His mind-state paid off, as Perrault soundly won the belt in a 6-game series. The new champ took a couple minutes to celebrate with his new-found championship accessory, then swiftly accepted Lemco's re-match offer.
With both competitors 1-1 in title matches on the day, the final title match lived up to all the build-up and all of the hype. In front of a capacity crowd, the two squared off in a battle of epic proportions. First, it was Lemco who slipped up. In Game 2, with the game set at game point 6-4, Lemco ruined his hot-shooting streak by rimming out a jumper. Perrault quickly capitalized on the mistake and took the game. In Game 5, with Perrault now shooting, the two nemesis' found themselves in the exact same situation but with their roles reversed. This time, it was Perrault who faltered, leading Lemco to an easy put-back and the Game 5 win.
Heading into Game 6, Lemco was set to re-gain his crown up 3-2 and only needing one more victory. Lemco was all but certain to claim his belt back from Perrault.Unfortunately for the ex-champ, his shot did not match his confidence, as shot after shot rimmed out of the net and right into the waiting grasp of the current title-holder. Perrault amazed the crowd with incredible put-backs and took advantage of every Lemco mistake.
Heading into game 7, the series was tied and 3-3 and up in the air for anyone. Perrault displayed his championship pedigree by not even giving Lemco a chance. Shot after shot sank through the net as Lemco could do nothing but watch in horror as Alex Perrault pulled away and won the series, successfully defending his championship.
