The second series was an epic 7-Gamer that came down to the Champ again coming up big and hitting the shot on Series Point. Stein showed great improvement in this one, gaining confidence while shaking off the cobwebs of a whole year break.
After an epic series like that, the two went head-to-head again in a third series. Once more, Tyler Lemco handled his opponent, winning the series in Six. The Champ showed some impressive reaches and impossible putbacks that were reminiscent of years past. The older veteran Stein could only stand and watch his day get worse.
Finally, in the fourth and final series of the day, Stein pulled out one of the most memorable and hearty performances this sport has ever seen. Lemco got out to a quick 3-0 lead in the series and the brooms were all but ready to sweep. Suddenly, Stein mounted a furious comeback, hitting the boards with vigor and utilizing a dead-eye shot. With the series now tied at 3-3 going into an inconceivable game 7, it was Tyler at the line with Stein on the rebound.
After missing two easy ones and going down 2-0 in the game, Tyler then decided to miss two more shots on purpose to go down 4-0 and really put the pressure on himself. What seemed crazy turned out to be genius, as Tyler hit 6 straight shots to bring the game to Series Point.
One bad bounce and suddenly Jon Stein became the very first competitor to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series. It is a moment that will forever echo throughout the annals of history.
An impressive start to a PoolBall season that promises to be as exciting and competitive as ever. Stay tuned for more updates, as Regular Season games begin shortly.
