2012 New Faces

Jeremy Brisset:
On the shooting end, Jer uses a hard, line-drive shot that can be quite dangerous. He improves each game, getting more and more accustomed to the sport and its rules. A streaky shooter, Jer can catch fire in an instant. When his shot is falling, there isn't much you can do to stop him. On the rebounding end, Brisset attacks the rim with tenacity. A perfect mixture of size, athleticism and quickness, he is quick to react to almost any miss and slam it back in in the blink of an eye. Brisset, a respected lawyer outside of the pool but a fierce competitor in the water, is the odds-on favorite to capture the 2012 Rookie of the Year award as well a strong candidate for the Most Improved award. Based upon his natural gifts, as well as his impressive progress, Jer appears to be a dangerous competitor in the Poolball League.

Josh Elkin:
When Josh enters the pool, he brings with him an unparalleled intensity and level of professionalism. Although Elkin is a seasoned veteran, he approaches the game with the mentality of a much younger man. A streaky shooter and an energetic rebounder, he has the capability of de-throning any competition he faces. Known for his fantastic pool entrances, Josh isn't just style without the substance. Once the game begins, the pageantry gets put aside and he is capable of getting the job done effective and efficiently. Elkin has been competing in the Poolball league as an amateur for quite some time without ever being officially introduced as a league competitor. Don't let his rookie status fool you, this old dog definitely has a lot of fight left.

May 29th

There's a new champ in town! After a successful title defense in the morning matches, Tyler Lemco was riding high as the two-time champion. Challenger Alex Perrault did not take his defeat lying down. Instead, he sat quietly, gathered his thoughts, and re-focused himself and dedicated himself to finally dethroning the champ.
His mind-state paid off, as Perrault soundly won the belt in a 6-game series. The new champ took a couple minutes to celebrate with his new-found championship accessory, then swiftly accepted Lemco's re-match offer.
With both competitors 1-1 in title matches on the day, the final title match lived up to all the build-up and all of the hype. In front of a capacity crowd, the two squared off in a battle of epic proportions. First, it was Lemco who slipped up. In Game 2, with the game set at game point 6-4, Lemco ruined his hot-shooting streak by rimming out a jumper. Perrault quickly capitalized on the mistake and took the game. In Game 5, with Perrault now shooting, the two nemesis' found themselves in the exact same situation but with their roles reversed. This time, it was Perrault who faltered, leading Lemco to an easy put-back and the Game 5 win.
Heading into Game 6, Lemco was set to re-gain his crown up 3-2 and only needing one more victory. Lemco was all but certain to claim his belt back from Perrault.Unfortunately for the ex-champ, his shot did not match his confidence, as shot after shot rimmed out of the net and right into the waiting grasp of the current title-holder. Perrault amazed the crowd with incredible put-backs and took advantage of every Lemco mistake.
Heading into game 7, the series was tied and 3-3 and up in the air for anyone. Perrault displayed his championship pedigree by not even giving Lemco a chance. Shot after shot sank through the net as Lemco could do nothing but watch in horror as Alex Perrault pulled away and won the series, successfully defending his championship.

May 23rd

First Day of Regular Season:
Alex Perrault started off the season hot by defeating the champ, Tyler Lemco, in the very first matchup by a score of 4-1. His title shot, however, would not be as successful. Lemco showed why he is this seasons reigning champion by soundly sweeping the challenger 4-0. Lemco thus retains his title and notches his first successful title defense on the season.
Never one to give up, Perrault kept at it by taking on Lemco twice more. Unfortunately, Lemco was on his game and easily defeated Perrault in their next two matchup. After a dismal 0-4 preseason, it'll be interesting to see how Perrault fights to retain his #2 ranking.

IT'S BAAAAAAAAACK!!!!

May 21st- It was an eventful first day of Poolball. A total of 6 competitors made their marks in the pool. The pre-season started off with yet another epic duel between the champ Tyler Lemco and long-time rival Alex Perrault. In a picture-perfect game 7, Lemco hit a magical series-clincher when the score was locked up at 6-4. The crushing loss would not be the last of the day for Perrault, as he started the preseason with an overall record of 0-4 (including a defeat at the hands of last year's rookie sensation Stretch Wolofsky (1-1 for the preseason)).
Lemco kept on his winning ways, beating Perrault 3 times and newcomer Justin Lynch twice, making his overall record 5-0. Lynch made an impressive debut, giving the champ a run for his money and showing some great potential to become a serious problem in the PBL. His force around the rim couples nicely with a sweet shooting touch, making the Vancouver-import a dangerous competitor for anyone to face.
After taking a shot at the champ, Lynch took his game to matchup with Poolball elder-statesman Josh Elkin. In their two matches, the duo split one loss and one victory each. Elkin finished the first day of competition with a record of 1-1, while Lynch made an impressive debut that was actually better than what his 1-3 record implies.
Games are scheduled to continue as soon as possible. (Weather Permitting)

Lemco Retakes His Spot

Tyler Lemco regained his title today by defeating Mitch Mestel in a 4-2 series victory. Mitch's jumper was not falling like it regularly does, and Lemco's shot was on fire all day. His rebounding was also top notch, successfully making a number of improbable putbacks from all different angles. It was just too much for Mestel to handle, as Lemco regains the belt and ties Mestel for season championships.

The two competitors played 3 other matches today, with Lemco winning 3 of the 4 total matches today, including one sweep. It clearly wasnt Mestel's day.

Today marked the debut of big man Jay "Stretch" Wolofsky, who was impressive in his first two matches. Although he went 0-2 on the day, it is nothing to hang his head over considering he was matched up against the top two competitors in the sport. Stretch has a solid shooting touch, uses strategic placement on his jumpers to mess with his challenger, and uses his imposing size around the net to get to a ton of putbacks. With a little work he can surely become a serious problem in this league.

The Champ Goes DOWN!

Rookie-sensation Mitch Mestel made history recently by de-throning Tyler Lemco and winning the Poolball Championship. It was an epic game where both competitors gave it their all. In a highly contested matchup that came down to the wire, it was the challenger who was able to pull out the victory. With the series tied at 3 games apiece, it came down to a decisive game 7. In the final game, the two players brought the matchup to a 6-to-4 game point. Mestel used some great strategic planning by saving his one goal-tend for the end. He grabbed a Lemco shot attempt that appeared to be going in. On the following shot, the champ must have been slightly rattled because his shot rimmed out for an easy putback victory for Mestel, solidifying his place in history.
The celebration did not last long, as the two went right back at it for a re-match. Tyler Lemco got some revenge in this one by plowing through the new champion in a 4-1 series victory.
In the Championship Rematch, Mestel was able to successfully defend his new crown by pulling off a 4-2 series victory. Lemco was shooting miserably and Mestel was proving why he was no the champion, therefore this was not much of a contest.
Congratulations to Mitch Mestel, the new Poolball Champion!
